It had been over 20 years since my last visit to this iconic restaurant in Gastown, After almost 30 years the original owner had retired, then ownership changed in November, now run by two industry veterans; Eli Brennan and Chef Alan Tse. It was wonderful to revisit recently to enjoy restaurant chef Zach Steele’s dishes and rediscover this beautiful spot.
Beet and Arugula Salad with chèvre, lemon vinaigrette, colourful and light.
Pork belly with cannelllini beans, hearty in a rich sauce.
Orecchiette with broccoli basil pesto, pistachio and Asiago, and garlic confit; one of my favourite dishes of the night, a beautiful dish all around.
Arctic char with Israeli couscous with a sun choke purée, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes and a chive bacon vinaigrette; love the fish as well as the sun choke puree.
Truffle Gnocchi with wild mushrooms, rich and perfect for the cold winter weather.
Roasted Rack of Lamb with sun dried tomato, apricot, pistachio, fregola, mint gremolata; perfectly cooked and well balanced.
Tiramisu a house favourite.
Baked Apple in filo pastry with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and Gragham crumble; a truly old school dessert which has had customers raving about.
