New Menu Tasting at India Bistro

It has been several years since my last visit to this popular West End bistro with it’s Northern Indian cuisine focus.

1st dish:

Peshwari Naan

Peshwari naan – one of my favourite breads here, it is a white leavened bread stuffed with dried fruits & nuts.

2nd dish:

Cucumber salad

Cucumber salad with a light dressing.

3rd dish:

Eggplant Bartha

Eggplant bartha, loved the smokiness of this dish, whole eggplant roasted on open flame & peeled, then cooked with onion, tomatoes, garlic & ginger.

4th dish:

Fish tikka

Fish tikka served sizzling to the table, the fish is marinated in fresh ginger, garlic, Indian spices & char-broiled.

5th dish:

Onion kulcha

Onion kulcha, another more savoury white leavened bread stuffed with onions.

6th dish:

Lamb methi

Lamb Methi loved the flavours in this dish with dry fenugreek leaves & garlic in a special curry sauce.

7th dish:

Fish masala

Fish masala cooked in onion, garlic, ginger and tomato sauce.

8th dish:

Chicken coconut

Chicken coconut cooked in a unique combination of coriander & coconut curry.

9th dish:

Tandoori chicken

Tandoori chicken Half chicken marinated with authentic Indian spices & char broiled in tandoor.

10th dish:

Chicken Methi

Chicken Methi, the flavours of this chicken dish with dry fenugreek leaves & garlic in a special curry sauce are more subtle than the same with lamb.

11th dish:

Pulao rice

Pulao rice

12th dish:

Rasmalai

Rasmalai, loved this dessert, homemade round cheese patties served in a cold thick milk broth.

13th dish:

Kulfi Homemade Indian ice cream

Kulfi Homemade Indian ice cream served on a bamboo stick and it’s addictively good.

14th dish:

Keer – rice pudding

Keer – rice pudding very lightly sweetened. Served cold.
