Experiencing Mediterranean Cuisine at Shmone in New York

As I was travelling and visiting New York recently, one restaurant that I wanted to visit was Chef Eyal Shani’s newest that is in the West Village area of Manhattan.

Lawrence joined me for this wonderful meal and this is what we tried.

The restaurant specializes in Mediterranean cuisine where the menu changes nightly and is ingredient driven. I had a glass of Bourgogne (2014) France to start off the meal before we started with the freshly baked Hot Jerusalem bagel with z’atar; followed by the large Green Salad and a delicious Beets perfume dish with burned yellow beets, sour cream, and snow of horseradish.

Stretchy Straticciala Lasagna was decadent with all the cheese; the Red snapper flakes cooked in the best olive oil with challah was a standout that featured Israeli olive oil.

Cast iron Roasted Grouper with field vegetables came flambe to the table and was very tasty; we also had the Lamb 2 cuts (tenderloin and sirloin), salad aviv.

There were 3 desserts on offer that night and we had “we want it all” that featured their Valhrona Chocolate mousse, Strawberries mascarpone creme and Diplomat cream, butter crumble, and bourbon pineapple.

Shmone is located at 61 W 8th Street, New York and you can find them on Instagram @shmonenyc

Advance reservations are a must here.
