First Taste of Krave Kulture Yogurt

With their focus as a craft yogurt shop, they opened their shop in the Edgemont Village neighbourhood 2 months ago.

Founded by Kamran Naghibzadeh and his wife Moji Shabani who both live in the neighbourhood with their family. They know the community well and wanted to open the yogurt shop there; they also own the day care next door. Kamran loves to cook and had been making his own yogurt at home for years, this is what prompted him to open this yogurt shop.

Their yogurt is made using Organic Dairyland milk, and the fermentation process takes 8 hours, yogurt is freshly made daily and the yogurt shelf life is 43 days.

The plain yogurt is the base for most of the bowls and the frozen yogurt. They also make a Coffee, Blackberry and Vanilla flavours (all these yogurts are 6.5 % Milk fat); along with a low fat Greek style yogurt (2%) All other ingredients made in house (jams, granola etc) except for the chocolate banana bread which comes from FDL Bakery in Burnaby.

They also sell 1 litre jars for $18 ($4 of the price is refundable if the jars are returned); along with mini jars with fruit in the bottom.

Yogurt bowls in savoury and sweet, along with smoothies, and frozen yogurt. Starting this week they will also be selling bags of their delicious granola.

I have tried a selection of items off their menu, my favourites from the Savoury bowls were the Tulum Krave bowl with Mango, avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, olive oil, lime, tortilla chips; and then the Mediterranean Krave with Marinated grape tomatoes, cucumber, kalamata olives, fresh basil, feta cheese, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, rice vinegar, garlic salt. I also tried the Greek Krave with Sundried tomatoes, cucumber, marinated artichoke hearts, feta, croutons, basil, olive oil, balsamic reduction.

I loved all of the Sweet bowls that I tried; the Coffee Krave is made with plain yogurt topped with Passion fruit, fresh berries, granola, slivered almonds, pecans, dark chocolate chips, coconut, coffee, maple syrup; the PB+J Krave is topped with Banana, peanut butter, chia seed jam, granola, hemp hearts, date caramel; and the Cake Krave is topped with Chocolate banana bread, fresh berries, granola, almonds, honey.

I also tried their yummy Frozen Yogurt both of the Vanilla and Chocolate flavours.
