Lobster Bisque

Agua de Valencia

With it’s focus on steak and fish, this modern restaurant inside the Delta Burnaby Hotel is where Chef James Thomson leads the kitchen and has added some fine touches to the menu. I dined with my friend Zahra Alani and we shared several of the dishes that were possible to share. I loved the Lobster Bisque ($15) seared scallop, roe that paired perfectly with the Agua de Valencia cocktail.

Chili Rubbed Cowboy Rib Steak

Grilled Atlantic Lobster Tail

Garlic Jumbo Prawns

Miso Glazed Sablefish

Josper Grilled Salmon Steak

Josper Roasted Vegetables

Whipped Brie Mashed Potatoes

Roasted Wild Mushrooms

Zahra and I then shared the outstanding Chili Rubbed Cowboy Rib Steak ($65 for 16 oz cut) USDA Prime which was perfectly cooked for us on their josper grill. We added a couple of their accompaniments the Grilled Atlantic Lobster Tail ($22) and Garlic Jumbo Prawns ($20), plus a couple of their sauces Red Wine Demi Glace ($5) and Shitake Mushroom Peppercorn Cream ($5). We also both enjoyed the Miso Glazed Sablefish ($34) shitake + edamame succotash and the Josper Grilled Salmon Steak ($28) warm potato salad, chimichurri sauce. We added a few of their sides which are also designed for sharing, the Josper Roasted Vegetables ($9), Whipped Brie Mashed Potatoes ($10) and the Roasted Wild Mushrooms ($11). Wines for pairing of our mains included the Babich Sauv Blanc, Desert Hills Viognier, and Quails Gate Foch.

Vanilla Cheesecake

Baked Alaska

My piece of Baked Alaska

Notable pastry chef Candice Low has great a wonderful dessert menu; we tried a couple of them, the Vanilla Cheesecake ($10) was delicious with dulce de leche, brown sugar shortbread, raspberry gel, candied orange zest; along with the spectacular tableside Baked Alaska ($17 for two) raspberry coconut ice cream, lemon sorbet, orange vanilla cake, and italian meringue.

Asides from the great food, wine and cocktails, they have live piano music on the weekend nights and have created a beautiful spot to dine with a friend or friends.
