Vancouver Caesar Cocktail Challenge

Welcome to the Vancouver Foodster Caesar Challenge. Restaurants and bars from all over the city were invited to enter their caesar cocktail creations into this challenge, most have created a special cocktail creation just for this challenge. Each restaurant/bar will be featuring their caesar cocktail creations on their menu from March 12 – April 5, 2015.

How Does this all Work? For the public challenge, you are invited to go out and order any or all of the caesar cocktail creations in this challenge, then you decide who you think has the best caesar cocktail creation for the People’s Choice award winners. 

Share your experiences: Tweet (and don’t forget to tweet or instagram your photos) throughout the challenge, our twitter and instagram address is @vanfoodster and the hashtag is #CaesarChallengeYVR please include this hashtag in all your tweets during the challenge.

Voting criteria –  some things to help you judge your favourite caesar cocktail creations – keep these things in mind: originality, creativity, uniqueness, traditional, non-traditional, price, value and most importantly taste.

Get some friends together and make a day or night of it, visit 2 places or more and taste the different cocktail creations or go solo or with a friend– just remember to VOTE for your favourites

Price: $9.99 single, $11.99 double (with oyster); $7.99 single, $9.99 double (without oyster)

Description: This is a classic style caesar with a focus on harmony between the beverage and the oyster garnish. The freshly shucked oyster garnish is meant to be enjoyed with the caesar as a literal cocktail sauce. The lemon cayenne pepper rim also brightens the aroma and flavour of both the caesar and the oyster.

Ingredients: Smirnoff Vodka, fresh horseradish, worcestershire sauce, fresh lemon juice, clamato, and cholula hot sauce. Garnished with a freshly shucked oyster and a lemon cayenne pepper rim.

Description: It all begins Belgian Endive infused Ketel One Vodka with a butter wash.  Our Caesar is then spiced with Tabasco hot sauce and a house made vegan Worcestershire sauce, filled with Clamato and fresh lime juice.  The finishing touches are celery bitters and an Endive boat filled with Belmont pickles.  Even Shakespeare may have approved.

Ingredients: Caesar:  Ketel One Vodka, Butter, Belgian Endive, Gherkins, Cauliflower, Carrot, Clamato Juice, Lime Juice, Celery Bitters, Tabasco, house Worcestershire.

House made vegetarian Worcestershire:

Tamarind paste, red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, basalmic vinegar, yellow onion, birds eye chili, jalapeño, garlic, black pepper, kosher salt, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cardamom, yellow mustard seed, and black mustard seed, brown sugar, cinnamon.

Salt Rim:

Kosher salt, chili powder, paprika, black pepper, brown sugar.
