Executive Chef Wayne Sych launched his fall menu recently at Joe Fortes and I was invited to taste some of their new dishes.
1st dish:
Lobster Bisque – atlantic lobster, brandy, cream
2nd dish:
Truffle Parmesan Fries
3rd dish:
Braised Lamb Shank – roasted root vegetables, parmesan vinaigrette, pan jus
4th dish:
Duo of Fresh Fish
5th dish:
Pumpkin Pie – spiced whipped cream, caramel sauce
6th dish:
Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brûlée – cookie, cream
My take:
Loved the presentation of the Lobster Bisque which was poured tableside, the bisque was delicious and light and I shared it with my friend Marck. If you tell your server you wish to share they will arrange to serve tableside portioning for two. The Truffle Parmesan Fries have been on the menu for quite sometime, not a new dish but one that I had wanted to try for ages and these fries were very good, also a great sharing item. The Braised Lamb Shank was huge, tender and delicious with the pan jus and root vegetables. The Duo of Fish wasn’t a new dish either, however the fish was seasonal and does change by the season, we enjoyed the house signature Miso Sablefish and the Halibut. For dessert we shared the outstanding Pumpkin Pie with a delicious caramel sauce this is a new dessert on the menu through the holidays, lastly the Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brûlée was a standout that our server encouraged us to try.
