First Taste of Do Chay Yaletown

With it’s focus on Modern Vietnamese Vegetarian fare this humbled eatery has expanded outside of it’s original location in East Vancouver and opened another outpost in Yaletown.

The interior décor has the similar bird cages hanging from the ceiling as their East Side location; they also have a nice outdoor patio, inside bar and seating around.

I have tried several dishes here including the delicious Mango Salad with Gỏi Xaoi | Seitan, lime leaf, bird’s eye chili, peanut, onion, pickled carrot, lime; along with the Green Onion Pancake with Five spice braised pulled jackfruit, peppers, cucumber, cilantro, hoisin; and also the Uncle Hings Wings – Crispy mushroom wings, sweet and spicy ish sauce glaze.

The Festival Rice Cakes and the Steamed Rice Roll with ish sauce; were two of their new dishes which are about to launch on Chef Pat Do’s new menu.

Enjoyed a couple of their non alcohol drinks, the Citrus Soda and the Turmeric Spritz.

Also enjoyed the Black Garlic Eggplant – Cơm Cà Tím | Braised eggplant, tofu, black garlic, red chili, yo choy, rice; lastly tried the Black Truffle Tofu – Đau Hu Chiên | Crispy tofu, scallion ginger black truffle sauce, sweet soya, pickles.
