On September 15, I dined at Darby’s Public House for the Double Mountain Beer Dinner. Chef Bill Taylor prepared 3 courses which were paired with each of the Double Mountain beers.

Now on to dinner and the pairings!

1st Course:

Paradise Valley Farms pork and Roasted Corn Empanadas with cluster fuck and lime sour cream paired with the Double Mountain Cluster Fuck.

2nd Course:

Smoked Half Chicken with sour peach glaze, roasted corn succotash, grilled asparagus and parsnip celery root purée; paired with the Double Mountain Peche Mode

3rd Course:

Chocolate Olive Oil Cake with orange coulli paired with the Double Mountain Land Yacht Cask.

My favourite dish was the Smoked Half Chicken with sour peach glaze which was outstanding and this was the best pairing of the meal. This Peche Mode beer was made with 720 pounds of peaches which were all grown in their own orchard which is owned by the brewery. Darby’s Public House is located at 2001 Macdonald Street in Vancouver.
