Experiencing and Celebrating Liuyishou Hot Pot Week February 26 – March 2

Many may find it surprising to learn that I hadn’t had traditional hot pot in the past, the other night that all changed when I experienced Liuyishou Chongqing Hotpot Restaurant.

There is something very exciting about to happen centrered around the Year of the Dog and the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, Liuyishou Hotpot Week will be taking place at all of their Vancouver area location between February 26 – March 2, presented by Vancouver Gourmet Tours.

The broths

Chongqing style hotpot, extremely popular in China and many other regions, is well represented by Liuyishou, and the recipe of traditional hotpot broth. Here I had a chance to try two of the different broths, one was mild Mushroom broth and the other a Spicy broth, though my preference was for the non-spicy Mushroom based broth.

Beer Pairing is included in the special holiday hotpot dinner set in in all 3 Locations in British Columbia. Liuyishou has found the perfect local craft beers to complement the special hotpot broth at Red Truck Brewery. Enjoy a Red Truck Lager, Dark Lager or IPA along with the Chongqing hotpot experience.

One thing that I liked about the Liuyishou Chongqing Hotpot Restaurant in Burnaby where I had enjoyed this experience is that they feature a large sauce and fruits bar available to add to this dining experience.

Given its interactive nature – carefully selected ingredients, such as premium marbled beef, wild mushrooms, seasonal greens, and other specialty foods, cooked at your own table in broth to the perfect temperature – Liuyishou has earned a fashionably healthy image with outstanding quality and a blast of true Chinese flavour.
