Afternoon Tea is an art and should be an extraordinary experience one that you will cherish. Vancouver has some wonderful places for you to indulge in an Afternoon Tea experience. Each of the places is unique in what they offer along with the type of service and selection of sandwiches, pastries and desserts. I am on a journey around the city to find these extraordinary places.
Starting off with a pot of the Golden Monkey Jasmine Tea which is one of the newest tea offerings specifically for Chinese New Year. This tea service is a wonderful way to celebrate the Year of the Ox New Year; I indulged in the Lunar New Year Afternoon Tea service.
Although I selected a hot Tea you can also choose one of the Iced Tea if you prefer a cold tea instead of hot.
After my selection of tea was served, I then indulged with a selection of Chinese themed savouries and sweets served on a three-tiered platter.
The bottom plate of savoury canapes featured the:
Braised Pork belly infused with 1837 Black Tea
Pan-seared Atlantic scallop topped with Genmaicha furikake
Shanghai spring roll infused with Darjeeling Princess Tea
The middle plate of savoury canapes featured the:
Duck slider with Matcha infused artisanal bun and BBQ sauce
Lucky Tea infused seafood croquette
Cucumber sandwich with Geisha Blossom Tea infused with cream cheese
The top plate of sweets featured the:
Matcha cream puff
Napoleon Tea infused jivara chocolate
Jasmine Queen Tea infused strawberry panna cotta
Chocolate Earl Grey infused golden truffle chocolate
Bain de Roses Tea infused almond roll cake
Chrysanthemum Black Toucha infused Jelly
My favourites from the Savoury canapes included the Duck Slider, Seafood Croquette and the Atlantic Scallop. My favourites from the Sweets included the Bain de Roses Tea infused almond roll cake, Matcha Cream Puff and Napoleon Tea infused jivara chocolate.
This special Lunar New Year Tea service runs through to the end of February and is $58 per person. Make your reservations soon and enjoy this years Chinese New Year celebration. TWG Tea Restaurant and Boutique is located at 1070 West Georgia, in downtown Vancouver.
