Here are a couple of the food film highlights in this year’s Festival:
In Search of Israeli Cuisine– OPENING NIGHT FILM
Fifth Avenue Cinema – Thursday Nov. 3rd at 7:00pm
USA – 2016 Documentary – 120 minutes – English Director Roger Sherman
A portrait of the Israeli and Arab people told through food. The world sees Israelis and Palestinians as always in conflict.
Those are not the people of Israel for the most part. The film shows the 70+ cultures that make up the Israeli people, each with wonderful and unique food traditions. Israel has one of the hottest food scenes in the world and getting into restaurants in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem is as difficult as New York or San Francisco. Viewers will be amazed and impressed.
Hummus! The Movie
Sunday, November 6th, 2016 at 11:30 AM
A eclectic, touching film about hummis, the delicious superfood sweeping across North America. Secret recipes, a Guinness World Record and the power of Hummus to bring Muslims, Christians and Jews together – in the Middle East, America and around the world.
VJFF would like to gratefully acknowledge Hummus Express for their sponsorship of the reception before the film. Authentic Jaffa-style hummus and other Israeli delicacies will be served.
