On July 9th, I attended the energetic spicy gala, it was another culinary tour of South Asian cuisine curated by Vikram Vij held at the Roundhouse Community Centre.
This was the first day of the annual Indian Summer festival that featured musical artists, patrons and special guests. Food stations were featured throughout the Indian railway station with culinary delights from India to China to Japan, all created by the city’s top restaurants (Blue Water Cafe, Bob Likes Thai Food, Atithi, West Oak, Vij’s Railway Express, Nanak Foods, Bella Gelateria and Vij’s My Shanti), paired with fine beverages including award-winning wines and signature cocktails.
I enjoyed the delicious dishes that included Beef and the Vegetarian Chaat from Vij’s My Shanti, Bob’s Poutine and a spicy Papaya Salad from Bob Likes Thai Food, Potato Cakes from Atithi Indian Cuisine, the house-made curry cones filled with tomatoes and burrata from West Oak, the Prawn Curry Wurst from Blue Water Café, the Salad at Vij’s Railway Express, and the Coconut Sorbet with roasted almonds Gelato from Bella Gelateria.
There were a variety of musicians performing and the event was sold out.
