On February 28, I attended the opening party for the new Hendricks Restaurant in The Westin Grand Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
Overlooking the hustle and bustle of Vancouver’s Library Square, Hendricks Resto-Lounge is a 98-seat, contemporary twist on classic West Coast lounge culture. Conceived as a multi-functional, 1259 square-foot entertainment space, Hendricks Resto-Lounge is part full-service restaurant, part old-school cocktail bar, and part show lounge.
Hendricks’ dining room and bar are integrated directly into the Westin Grand, Vancouver lobby thanks to a sleek concept created by Los Angeles-based designer David Hill. With a subtle nod to the neo-futurist movement, the space is one of metallics and bold geometrics balanced by warm, muted colours, natural textures and the graceful curve of the focal staircase leading into the space from street level.
Guests enjoyed a selection of cocktails and wines from their wine on tap system, along with canapes from Executive Chef Chis Savino. Lead Bartender’s Matt Houston-formerly of Cairns, Australia’s award-winning Ochre Restaurant and the Pullman Cairns International luxury resort before running West Vancouver’s Milestone’s-leads Hendrick’s cocktail-forward bar programme.
Hendricks is open seven days a week for breakfast (6:30am – 10:30am), lunch (11am – 2pm), cocktails, dinner (Sunday – Thursday from 5pm – 11pm and Friday and Saturday from 5pm – midnight) and late-night and will feature live music on Tuesdays with DJ sets on Saturday evenings.
Hendricks Resto-Lounge is located on the Lobby Level of the Westin Grand, at 433 Robson Street in dowtown Vancouver.
