There is something uniquely exciting about beginning an international getaway from the heart of downtown Victoria. Thanks to Harbour Air‘s seasonal daily service between Victoria’s Inner Harbour and Seattle’s South Lake Union, travellers can now exchange one waterfront city for another in just 30 minutes. The journey itself is part of the adventure, offering spectacular aerial views of the Salish Sea before touching down directly in the center of Seattle.

On a recent visit, I experienced how easy it is to turn a quick flight into a memorable Seattle getaway filled with incredible food, cultural attractions, local wine, and a comfortable downtown stay.
Victoria Harbour to Seattle in 30 Minutes
The experience begins at Victoria’s iconic Inner Harbour, where Harbour Air’s seaplanes provide one of the most scenic international routes in the Pacific Northwest. Instead of navigating lengthy airport procedures, travellers can enjoy a streamlined journey that lands directly on Lake Union in Seattle. The flight offers breathtaking views of islands, waterways, and coastal landscapes, making the trip itself a highlight of the day.

After landing in South Lake Union, Seattle’s vibrant urban energy is immediately at your doorstep.

Brunch at Ben Paris
The first stop was Ben Paris, a downtown Seattle favourite known for its welcoming atmosphere and elevated comfort food. Located just steps from Pike Place Market, the restaurant offers a menu that blends classic brunch dishes with creative Pacific Northwest influences.

Their signature Ricotta Pancakes are a must-order. Light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced between richness and sweetness, they have become one of the restaurant’s most celebrated dishes. Paired with a refreshing cold brew coffee, it was the ideal way to fuel a day of exploration.
The restaurant’s stylish yet approachable setting makes it popular with both locals and visitors looking for a memorable brunch experience in the heart of the city.

Exploring Pike Place Market and Hellenika Cultured Creamery
No visit to Seattle is complete without spending time at Pike Place Market. As one of America’s oldest continuously operating public markets, it offers an incredible mix of local vendors, artisans, food producers, and culinary experiences.
While wandering through the market, I stopped at HELLENIKA Cultured Creamery, where ice cream becomes a global culinary adventure. The creamery’s World Cup-inspired flavours celebrate cultures from around the world through thoughtfully crafted frozen desserts.
I sampled flavours inspired by international teams before enjoying a two-scoop combination featuring Om Ali, inspired by the beloved Egyptian dessert, and Plum Walnut, representing Bosnia. Each flavour offered distinctive ingredients and stories that transformed a simple ice cream stop into a memorable cultural experience.

Discovering Seattle’s Creative Side at MoPOP
Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, the building’s striking exterior is only a preview of what awaits inside.

The museum celebrates music, film, television, gaming, science fiction, and popular culture through immersive exhibits and interactive experiences. Visitors can explore exhibits dedicated to legendary musicians, iconic movies, video games, and groundbreaking cultural movements.
Accessing MoPOP through CityPASS made the experience even more valuable. For travellers planning to visit multiple attractions, CityPASS offers significant savings while simplifying admission to several of Seattle’s top destinations.
Whether you’re a music enthusiast, film buff, gamer, or simply curious about modern culture, MoPOP offers hours of engaging exploration.

A Refreshing Break at Chaco Coffee & Tea
Just minutes from MoPOP, Chaco Coffee & Tea provided the perfect afternoon refreshment stop.

Known for its carefully crafted drinks and welcoming atmosphere, Chaco specializes in premium teas, coffee beverages, and creative specialty drinks. Their Matcha Strawberry Iced Latte delivered a refreshing balance of earthy matcha and bright fruit flavours, making it an ideal pick-me-up during a busy day of sightseeing.
The café’s modern aesthetic and dedication to quality have helped it build a loyal following among Seattle locals.

Happy Hour in Pioneer Square at Browne Family Vineyards
Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square district combines beautiful architecture, rich history, and a growing culinary scene. It was the perfect setting for an afternoon wine tasting at Browne Family Vineyards’ tasting room.
The experience offered an introduction to Washington State’s exceptional wine industry. Knowledgeable staff guided guests through a selection of wines while sharing insights about the region’s diverse growing areas and winemaking traditions.

Complemented by delicious small bites, the tasting showcased why Washington has become one of North America’s premier wine-producing regions. The relaxed atmosphere made it an ideal place to unwind before dinner.

An Exceptional Dinner at Salt Harvest
As evening arrived, dinner at Salt Harvest delivered one of the culinary highlights of the trip.

The restaurant focuses on seasonal ingredients and thoughtfully prepared dishes that showcase Pacific Northwest flavours. From the moment the tableside butter and freshly baked sourdough bread service arrived, it was clear that attention to detail is central to the dining experience.

Highlights included the Strawberry & Whipped Feta, a vibrant and refreshing starter; the Spring Pea Salad, bursting with seasonal freshness; beautifully prepared Spring King Salmon; comforting Spätzle; perfectly executed vegetable sides; and a rich Basque Cheesecake to finish the meal.
Sharing the experience with friends made the evening even more memorable, proving once again that great food is best enjoyed together.

Staying at Pali Hotel Seattle
After a full day of exploring, Pali Hotel Seattle provided a stylish and comfortable place to unwind.

Located directly across from Pike Place Market, the boutique hotel offers one of the most convenient locations in the city. Guests are within walking distance of Seattle’s waterfront, shopping districts, restaurants, and major attractions.

The hotel’s design blends vintage charm with contemporary comforts, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels distinctly Seattle while maintaining the personality that defines the Palisociety brand.
For visitors looking to maximize their time in the city, the location is hard to beat.

Starting the Morning at Verve Bowls
The next morning began with a quick and healthy breakfast at Verve Bowls, conveniently located across the street from the hotel.

Known for nutrient-rich smoothies, bowls, and wellness-focused menu items, Verve provides a lighter alternative before a day of travel. The Blue Protein Smoothie was both refreshing and satisfying, offering the perfect combination of flavour and energy before heading back to the terminal.
It’s an excellent option for travellers seeking a nutritious start to their day without sacrificing taste.
