Seasonal Tasting Menu at the Five Sails

Enjoyed a wonderful night at this fine dining restaurant that has one of the best views in the city.

Started off with a couple of their exceptional cocktails, the Starry Night that’s foamed at the table and quickly turns to smoke making for a very cool experience; along with the 1605 julep that also features smoke under the lid; another cocktail to love.

We had the Tasting Menu with its multiple courses, starting off …..

AMUSE BOUCHE

Gougere – duck liver parfait

Crab salad on crispy nori

Spot Prawn Toast that was my favourite with panko, brioche and caviar

Tomato tart with burnt onion

paired with the Frind Winery Brut (Okanagan Valley, BC)

1st course

Asparagus with spring pea puree, egg yolk gel, parma ham, toasted almond, red wine vinaigrette

Also paired with the Brut

2nd course

Sea Bream Crudo cured in-house with a lovely coconut calamansi, avocado crema, grapefruit, latik

paired with Trimbach Riesling 2020, France

3rd course

Sea Bass with fennel, Summer succotash, corn espuma

Paired with Little Engine Wines Sauvignon Blanc (Naramata Bench, BC)

4th course

Fraser Valley duck, kromskies, pink apple puree

Paired with the Foxtrot Vineyards Pinot Noir  (Naramata Bench, BC)

5th course

Rhubarb Pavlova with rhubarb jam, mascarpone cream, almond crumble, figs, rhubarb-vanilla reduction

The service is as spot on as the impeccable Tasting Menu that changes seasonally.
