Specializing in West Coast cuisine with Asian influences, this newly opened fine dining restaurant in Richmond features seafood from all over the world as well as local ingredients whenever possible.
Owned by a husband and wife team (Sam Wong and Fan Fan) who are experienced having worked in the hospitality industry and some of the top hotels both in Hong Kong as well as here. The kitchen is lead by Executive Chef Bide Gao; and the Bar Manager is Gabriel Lee.
Fan Fan designed this new gem in Richmond with service and detail in mind. The dining room features 9 Karp hanging with 9 dragons on the other side of the wall in their private room which is a stunner. There is also a private dining room that of course offers privacy as well is a great spot for a dinner with friends or a wine tasting.
We visited and had their seasonal tasting menu with a couple of substitutions.
Bartender Gabriel offers all sorts of cocktails, there is also a Champagne cart, plus wines and beer. He made us some zero-proof versions of his cocktails as we had the Sage Bramble and the Cucumber Rosemary Refresher.
Started with some Exquisite snacks my favourite was the Eggplant tart, followed by the White asparagus, Citrus salad then Soy curls.
Bread with Butter service: Whole grain sourdough/potato sourdough, tarragon butter, fermented black bean butter.
Goat Milk Bavarois with the incredible Olive Farm extra virgin olive oil, Vancouver Island sea salt, BC goat milk.
Cauliflower Salad Romanesco, purple cabbage foam, pecorino, the Olive Farm extra virgin olive oil. Clam Chowder with Live manila clam, charred fennel, preserved white tofu and @theolivefarm drizzle.
Koji Striploin with koji au jus, which was perfectly cooked and one of my favourite dishes.
Venison Tartare: Truffle potato pave, house pickled sea buckthorn; and Tepache granita (palate cleanser between savoury courses)
Fish and Chips: Atlantic salmon, green almond sauce, crispy quinoa, sunchoke and cassava chips; another favourite dish.
Glorious Tonka Bean and Vanilla Cheesecake; and a Preserved sweet rice sorbet with Osmanthus syrup with something tapioca (Shanghainese dessert).
