Vancouver Sundae Challenge Winners 2022

The Vancouver Foodster 8th annual  Sundae Challenge was a success featuring sundae creations from cafes around Vancouver. Each cafe featured their sundae creation from August 3-28, 2022. Our media judging panel determined the ultimate winners of the challenge, and this was quite the task as each judge who tasted each creation with a rigorous process based on taste, originality/uniqueness and presentation/appearance.

Our Media judges for this challenge were: AJ Heraghty, Jay Minter and Shelley Hayashi.

Each media judge will have scored the creation with a maximum of 40 points as follows: Overall Taste 20 points, Originality and Uniqueness 10 points, Presentation and Appearance 10 points). The total number of points a sundae creation could earn is 120 points.

Description: Combining the Tropical flavours into the fresh coconut with a freshness of coconut butterfly pea jello, pineapple, mangoes in syrup, Coconut icecream and Topped with banana bruleé and taro Mont Blanc

In the People’s Choice Awards category, the public who tried the Sundae creations were the ones who had the opportunity to cast their vote throughout the challenge.

True Blue Sundae Bliss

Description:  Our True Blue Sundae Bliss is the definition of an authentic BC Summer.

We start it all off with a delightful hand formed blueberry lavender rustic tart made with a hint of fresh lemon.  We top that off with the perfect scoop of our Vanilla Bean Gelato and a dollop of fresh whipped cream.  To finish it all off we delicately  drizzle our in house made blueberry lavender compote and a slice of candied lemon to entice all of your taste buds.

Ingredients: Fresh local blueberries and lavender from Richmond BC, a delicate hand formed rustic tart made with real butter and topped with lavender sugar, fresh whipped cream and a slice of candied lemon.
