Experiencing Mott32 and their Lunar New Year Menu

Indulged celebrating the Lunar New Year at Mott32 Restaurant where they featured a selection of special Dishes marking the occasion and the Year of the Dragon.

Lawrence joined me as we shared these celebratory dishes.

We started off with some of their special cocktails that were created by Sommelier, Robert Stelmachuk.

My favourite of the two was the Black Sesame Negroni, and Lawrence’s favourite was the Douglas Fir Royale.

The Black Cod Dumplings with gold accent were not only beautiful but delicious; and this was served with the Fried oyster bean curd roll. Robert paired the first two dishes with the Catena (2021) wine from Mendoza, Argentina.

Signature Smoked Black Cod is one of my favourite dishes which is not on their special Lunar New Year menu, it is one of the most popular features on the restaurant menu, the presentation is bar none as it comes to the table with a dome and when lifted the smoke fills the area showcasing this beautiful dish.

These next few dishes were stars on the Lunar New Year menu which featured the Scallop, crab meat, flying fish roe, radish, egg white; along with the Wok fried whole Dungeness crab, turnip cake, sausage, golden garlic, chili; and the Braised free-range chicken, aged hua Diao. We then enjoyed a 2022 Collio Ribolla Gialla with the crab and chicken dishes.

Lotus leaf rice with prawn, duck, scallop, chicken, compoy, mushroom, egg, as this dish was a little spicy; Robert Paired the 2019 Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva with the rice dish too cool off the heat.

The Mango Sago Soup was a refreshing dessert to finish this incredible dinner. Make sure to check the Lunar New Year menu once it’s out each year and to make a advance reservation to enjoy their special dishes.

Mott32 Restaurant is located at 1161 W Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver.
