First Taste of Mazahr Lebanese Kitchen

Opening last month, is this Lebanese restaurant that took over from another Lebanese restaurant in the same location in the South Granville neighborhood.

The restaurant is run by owner, Mohammad Halawi. They offer some inside seating as well as a covered patio.

Simple and homelike, Mazahr uses some of the finest local ingredients to present hearty, flavorful dishes using less sugar and salt.

BYOW (bring your own wine) or enjoy a selection of herbal teas to go with your meal.

Shish Tawook
Fried Cauliflower

I have tried several dishes here including the delicious Shish Tawook – Grilled marinated chicken breast skewers served with a garlic dip; loved the flavours and this was my favourite dish. Also enjoyed the Fried Cauliflower (V, GF) Fried until golden, and tossed in their special tahini and pomegranate dressing.

Muhammara
Mutabbal

Dips are a popular choice, I tried a selection which included the delicious Muhammara (V) Red peppers mixed with walnuts and bread crumbs; along with the Mutabbal (V, GF) Char-grilled eggplant and tahini dip topped with olive oil; loved the smokiness of the eggplant.

Hummus
Vegan Kibbe

There is also the traditional Hummus (V, GF) – Chickpea and tahini creamy dip topped with olive oil; and the not so traditional Vegan Kibbe (V) Mashed potatoes mixed with herbal cracked wheat, topped with olive oil.

Falafel
Tabbouli

I also tried the Falafel (V, GF) – Deep fried chickpea and fava bean dumplings which is served with tahini dressing; the refreshing Tabbouli (V) a signature refreshing Lebanese salad – parsley, tomatoes, onions mixed with herbs, spices, lemon salt and olive oil dressing.

You will also find a selection of lunch platters on the menu along with some desserts. They also offer a selection of Nespresso coffees.
