Thai Inspired High Tea at Food by Fanta

Afternoon Tea is an art and should be an extraordinary experience one that you will cherish. Vancouver has some wonderful places for you to indulge in an Afternoon Tea experience. Each of the places is unique in what they offer along with the type of service and selection of sandwiches, pastries and desserts. I am on a journey around the city to find these extraordinary places.

Love Afternoon Tea and this is the Thai inspired High Tea  featuring their new set for Spring and for Mother’s Day with delectable bites served with the Marco Polo line of teas Mariage Frères from France.

Lawrence joined me and we each chose different teas from their exquisite menu. I had the Vert Marco Polo (green tea) and Lawrence had the Blanc Marco Polo (white) and both had wonderful aromas.

We were then each served a 3-tiered tray featuring tasty savouries on the bottom plate, fresh scones in the middle and sweets on top.

On the bottom tray: My favourites were the:

Crispy Larb Bites with Rice Crackers – seasoned Thai larb (spicy minced beef salad) shaped into small balls and deep‑fried until crispy, then served with crunchy rice crackers.

Khanom Buang – a traditional Thai crispy pancake filled with sweet and savory grated coconut, diced shrimps and lime leaves on top of lemon meringue.

Khanom Krok – a traditional Thai coconut-rice pancake cooked in a hot cast‑iron pan with small round wells. It has a crispy bottom and a soft, creamy coconut top.

On the middle tray: I loved both that were featured which included the
Pandan brioche bun served with sweet strawberry jam as well as the Blueberry Mint Scones that were moist with a hint of fresh mint. Perfectly paired with strawberry jam and a hearty herb butter.

On the top tray: My favourite sweets were the:

Khanom Raerai – a traditional Thai dessert made from delicate steamed rice‑flour strands, usually colored in soft pastel tones. It’s served with freshly grated coconut and a fragrant jasmine syrup. The texture is soft and silky, and the presentation looks almost like edible lace.

Khanom Luem Kluen – a traditional Thai dessert made from mung‑bean flour, coconut milk, and natural coloring. It has a soft, silky, jelly‑like texture that melts in your mouth — so smooth that people say it’s “so good you forget to swallow.

Thai Young Coconut Cake – Light and moist cake infused with the delicate flavours of young coconut and Pandan leaves.

This special Thai inspired High Tea is now available for reservation Friday – Sunday until Mother’s Day on May 10. Reservations are now available and can be made online.
