Executive Chef Karan Suri hails from India, and couldn’t find a Tiffin type of lunch around Vancouver that replicated what he grew up eating. Months ago he added a Tiffin lunch offering in the restaurant and I finally had a chance to try it over a great catch-up with my friend Sheryl.
We started off tasting all three of the delicious samosas; the Lamb, chicken and masala quinoa (you usually get your choice of one of these with your order), I loved all of them equally and the tamarind sauce was the perfect accompaniment.
I then had one of their refreshing non-alcoholic drinks, the Honey Ginger Lemonade, which was the perfect pairing to cool the palate.
I had the Butter Chicken Curry while Sheryl had the Paneer Curry, we each tasted both, my favourite of the two was the delicious butter chicken curry with flavours that I haven’t experienced in recent memory. Learning from Chef Karan that there are over 250 different types of butter chicken curry in India, he made his as unique as he could and he did a fine job.
Each of the curry’s are served with Basmati Rice and Naan Bread.
This special Tiffin lunch is $25.00 per person. Additional $5 for prawn curry, plus tax and gratuities.
To me dessert is a must when dining at this lovely restaurant, dessert is extra outside of the special tiffin promotion. I loved the Warm Apple Pie with cinnamon spiced Okanagan apples honey ice cream and rosemary caramel sauce as well as the stunning presentation. Sheryl enjoyed the Vanilla Crème Brulee finishing off her meal.
Make sure to reserve ahead or drop in when out at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport for a delightful Tiffin lunch at Globe@YVR with a great view.
