On May 28 I attended this Okanagan Spring Brewmaster’s Dinner at Mamie Taylor’s in Chinatown. Featuring Okanagan Spring which has been around since 1985, the brewmaster Stefan Tobler spoke about each of their beers.
Now on to dinner and the pairings!
A welcome beer was served during the reception featuring the Okanagan Spring 1516 Bavarian Lager.
First Course:
Tuna Smokie with fennelkraut and dijonaise paired with Okanagan Spring Pale Ale
Second Course:
Cornmeal Fried Rockfish, Cajun spices, orange with a fennel slaw, parsley paired with the Okanagan Spring Sonder Hefeweizen.
Third Course:
Slow Roasted Porchetta with roasted apples, polenta, olive and herb puree paired with the Okanagan Spring Cloudy Amber Ale.
Fourth Course:
Brown Sugar Cake made with Okanagan Spring Porter, and paired with the Okanagan Spring Porter
My Take:
My favourite of the food dishes and pairings was the outstanding Brown Sugar Cake made with Okanagan Spring Porter, that was paired with the Okanagan Spring Porter. My Second favourite pairing was the 2nd course, the Cornmeal Fried Rockfish, Cajun spices, orange with a fennel slaw, parsley paired with the Okanagan Spring Sonder Hefeweizen.
