Last week I revisited one of my favourite chocolatiers and pastry shop in West Vancouver. Chef Steve Hodge is a creative wizard concocting new pastries, chocolates and desserts that fill his pastry case. My friend Chef Felix Yau joined me for some treats.
On the table, an outstanding Almond Croissant was one of the best I have had yet, a delicious Sweet Cheese pastry which was not too sweet, delicious Banana Bread and outstanding Lemon Loaf. I had my usual Espresso Macchiato and Felix had a Latte.
Tried the new Fruit Gelees, my favourite was the Passionfruit followed by the Vanilla Strawberry.
Temper recently launched some new chocolate bars, I indulged in the Milk Chocolate Toffee which was very good.
I also tried some of the new chocolate creations featuring Pimm’s, blueberry and tequila lime flavoured filling of which the Pimm’s was my favourite.
What I didn’t try on this visit and hope to try on the next is their new BC craft beer, wine, charcuterie plate with charcuterie offerings from neighbouring Sebastian & Co., paired with either a glass of BC wine (Tightrope Winery, Painted Rock EstateWinery) or cold craft brewed beer (courtesy of Hoyne and Black Kettle breweries). Their new seasonally inspired menu features a new Caprese sandwich and their new take on a classic grilled cheese (made with local honey, fresh basil, cheddar, heirloom tomato and onion). You can check out the latest in the line-up here.
