A few weeks ago, I attended a talk and tasting of dishes from The Flavour Principle by Lucy Waverman and Beppi Crosariol on their Vancouver Book Tour at Earls Yaletown.

With Anthony Gismondi at the table, both Lucy Waverman and Beppi Crosariol guided us through a tasting of three dishes (all recipes found in their book) served with different wines to give us an overview of the flavour principles in these pairings. First dish was the Shaved Root Vegetable Salad then we were served Safron and Scallop Risotto and lastly a Cheese Plate.

Lucy Waverman has written 8 cook books, is the food editor of Food & Drink, a magazine published by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario has the food column “Weekend Menu,” in The Globe and Mail.

Beppi Crosariol has been The Globe and Mail’s wine and spirits columnist for twelve years and makes pairing suggestions for Lucy Waverman’s recipes in The Globe and Mail.

It was a treat to meet both of them while they were in Vancouver.
