First Taste of AM Café

Specializing in all things plant-based this cafe is a recent newcomer to the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood and it is owned by Chef Lindsay (she was previously the private chef for notable Jimmy Pattison) and her partner Olly. They have a great group of team members that includes Chef Russell along with Kylo and Lauren.

The name of the cafe means “Animal Matters” in case you were wondering as I was. It’s a bright and cheery cafe with seating for 16. They also have a merch area.

I tried a few dishes and beverages that included the beautifully plated Smoked Salmon Croissant that was topped with smoky carrot lox, herbed cream cheese, pesto aioli, peppery arugula, fresh dill, tangy capers, and pickled onions layered with creamy feta and sliced avocado on a warm, grilled buttery croissant.

I also had a Flat White with oat milk and Bean around the world coffee; as well as the Tuna Melt and you would never know that it is plant-based. It had chickpeas, celery, pickles, sweet carrots, and fresh dill. Topped with melted cheddar and pickled onions.

Matcha Latte with oat milk

Quinoa Power Bowl – this a grab-n-go item that you can get from their cold case for a quick purchase to go, this was a great bowl. The bowl featured fluffy quinoa, caramelized sweet potatoes, peppers, green onion, roasted chickpeas, and sun-dried tomato pesto topped with feta, kalamata olives, and roasted pumpkin seeds.

Watch for a vegan supplies store that they are adding next door come late spring.
