Desi Indian Lounge Opening Party

I was invited to attend a wonderful grand opening party at Desi Indian Lounge ahead of it’s public opening to preview their new downtown restaurant.

Their designer created a beautiful restaurant interior with feathered lighting, a beautiful bar, accenting colours surround the room as well as the bathroom which also has unique and modern fixtures which includes one of most unique washing sinks in the city.

The restaurant is owned by Deepak Khanchi (seen here).

Executive Chef Balvant Ajagaonkar served tasters of several dishes from their Modern Indian menu to give us a taste of the many appetizers, dishes and desserts on the menu. As the restaurant is not open yet these tasters were to give us an idea of the flavours of the dishes that are going to be offered on their dinner menu.

I tasted these appetizers that included the Samosa kale chaat, Shimla kebab, Chicken tikka and sprout salad, Tandoori paneer momo, Kerala pepper chicken, Thepla chicken taco, Chicken momo, Samosa chaat and Thepla paneer taco.

To try some of the mains, they served a Buffet of dishes (Malvani chicken, Lemon rice, Paneer pasanda and Naan).

We then tried a couple of their desserts that included the Foxtail millet pudding and Motichur cheesecake.

Their creative cocktail menu has been designed by Dylan Riches.
