Best Desserts of 2023

I have eaten a lot of desserts inside and outside Vancouver restaurants in the past year, these are the ones that are standouts, ones that you remember for a long time to come. This list is devoted to my favourite desserts that I have eaten in 2023 at restaurants that are still open to this day.

Mille-Feuille

Taking this popular dessert to another level, this dessert has salted honey, buckwheat and bourbon that makes it outstanding; by Pastry Chef Oliver Bernardino.

Orange Chiffon Cake,

Apple

A stunning dessert with a sable breton base, vanilla mousse, white chocolate shell, apple & passionfruit compote filling and creme anglaise by Chef Daria Andrienko.

Knafe 

Outstanding Middle Eastern dessert with ricotta tart, saffron syrup, preserved lemon curd, toasted pistachio; by Chef Jason Hemi.

Peach Bellini Cheesecake

Beautiful cheesecake in the shape of a peach filled with bellini peach filling, a delicious deconstructed dessert.

Showcase Restaurant is located at 1122 West Hastings in downtown Vancouver.

Italian Cheesecake 

made with mascarpone and ricotta cheese, with pistachio cream, slowly baked with mix berries sauce on top, this is their Grandmother’s recipe and this is a glorious way to end a meal; by Chef Daniele.

Peruvian Trifle 

One of those desserts that looks hidden but has delicious layers of maracuya, lucuma, milk crumble, and pisco foam.

Honey Cake

A delicious layered honey cake with a honeycomb tuile on top, by Chef Daria Andrienko.

Apple Tart

French style Apple tarte served with coconut rum ice cream. Gala apple and puff pastry, delicious.

Tamalito de Chocolate

An outstanding Oaxacan chocolate tamal with topped with sliced almonds and berries and chocolate sauce, came wrapped in a banana leaf.

Meringa Con Ghiacchio 

A divine dessert with meringue with pistachio gelato, ganache and Okanagan cherries.

Misti

An incredible dessert in 3 layers of lucuma mousse, crumble chocolate cookies, and suspiro lime, topped with torched meringue.

Lemon Tiramisu

An outstanding almost deconstructed tiramisu with limoncello soaked lady fingers, mascarpone, lemon curd;; from Chef Ejner Christiansen.

Ice Cream Sando 

An incredible dessert by Chef Mariko and team with house-made miso caramel ice cream, sable cookies and dipped in white chocolate.
