Burger Challenge Winners 2022

The Vancouver Foodster 9th Annual Best Burger Challenge was a success featuring creations from restaurants around greater Vancouver. Each restaurant featured their burger creation from November 3-27, 2022. Our media judging panel determined the ultimate winners of the challenge, and this was quite the task as each judge who tasted each creation with a rigorous process based on taste, originality/uniqueness and presentation/appearance.

Description: This burger is stocked full of flavor. Hand-made smashed beef patty topped with delicious pork belly to give it a nice crisp. Extra flavor from the curried zucchini pickles and a touch of sweet and smoky from the Smoked Chili Remoulade. Don’t forget about the cheese!

Description: Inspired by his Filipino roots, I challenged a team member to create a burger for this challenge. He came up with the Bistek Burger. Bistek is made of thinly sliced sirloin braised in a mixture of citrus(Calamansi), soy sauce, onions, and garlic.

Ingredients: 6oz 80/20 Ground Chuck, Soy & Calamansi Glaze, Grilled Onions, Bacon & Tomato Marmalade, Mayo, Shredded Iceberg Lettuce, Brioche

Our Media judges for this challenge were: Tara Lee, Rick Green and Rei Van.

Each media judge will have scored the creation with a maximum of 40 points as follows: Overall Taste 20 points, Originality and Uniqueness 10 points, Presentation and Appearance 10 points). The total number of points a cake creation could earn is 120 points.
