Most restaurants have always offered takeout, as the industry was forced to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic, dining in became dining out. When restaurants were forced to close their dining rooms they had to get creative. Some have created special meal kits others have created take condensed take-out menus and others have offered their regular menu with discounts for pick up and such.
One way of keeping your favourite restaurants in business is to purchase takeout meals now. Whether you had been dining out nightly or once a week, you can do the same from home. This is one of the ways to keep the restaurants, cafes and bakeries and such going along with their suppliers and their staff.
Here is one of the restaurants takeout offerings that I have experienced recently.
Takeout at John 3:16 Malaysian Delights
Enjoyed our Malaysian feast at home over a couple of days and nights; delicious dishes, some favourites and others new such as their Roasted Chicken which is only available from their new Vancouver location.
Roti Canai with curry sauce, it’s a fluffy and flakey, traditional flatbread, pull-a-part to dip in the sauce.
Yam rolls – almost like a spring roll, filled with sweet yam and then deep fried.
Satay Chicken skewers – grilled and flavourful.
Beef Rendang – tender beef brisket, slow cooked in a flavourful coconut curry sauce; one of my favourite dishes at this restaurant,
Roasted Chicken – the chicken is so tender and flavourful and comes pre-cut (this is a 1/2 chicken), with chili and ginger sauces on the side. This dish is only available at their Vancouver location.
Kari Chicken – my first time trying this dish, even though I ordered mild, I found this one to have a spice kick, flavourful with curry coconut sauce.
Kam Hiong Prawns – another delicious dish, tender prawns in a flavourful sauce.
Sambal fish – my first time trying this dish, fried fish in a tasty spicy sambal sauce.
Nyonya Eggplants – robust flavours and perfectly cooked eggplant, another one of my favourite dishes at this restaurant.
Kari Laksa – my first time trying this here and it was delicious, the hot soupy dish is filled with noodles, fish cakes, tofu puffs, chicken, vegetables, egg and more, in a flavourful creamy coconut broth.
Sayur Lemak — tender mixed vegetables in a delicious coconut curry sauce.
Nasi Goreng – flavourful rice dish with some fried small anchovies.and cucumber slices to garnish this popular Malaysian dish.
Mamak Mee Goreng – the noodles were thin and chewy, stir-fried in a delicious sauce with bits of shrimp, fish cakes, potatoes, tofu, egg and bean sprouts.
Jasmine rice
The restaurant is open Monday – Saturday for dinner for takeout.
