Signature Coffee Drink Challenge 2018 Winners

The Vancouver Foodster Signature Coffee Drink Challenge was a great success featuring unique coffee creations at cafes around Vancouver. Each cafe featured their creation on their menu from January 11 – February 4, 2018 and their customers voted for their favourites throughout the challenge.

Our media judging panel determined the ultimate winners of the challenge, and this was quite the task as each judge who tasted each creation with a rigorous process based on taste, originality/uniqueness and presentation/appearance.

Our Media judges for this challenge were: Nick Ng, Jacky Chui and Andrew Chan.

The Winners are:

Spade

Perché No! (Why Not!)

(AKA “why not!” in Italian)

Price: $7.50

Created by: Kathleen Pearce and Chloe Wood

Description: Spade’s offering to this year’s Signature Coffee Drink Challenge is a reflection of what we strive and stand for here at Spade; creativity, innovation, quality and fun! Our “Perche No (Why Not!) consists of a 6oz latte made with ginger spiked whole milk, our Settebello espresso, a dreamy layer of sweet chantilly cream flushed with beetroot, and finally topped with a spiced pistachio and orange sugar tuille – which we make in house, every day. You can crack the top of the tuille with a spoon (think crème brulee!) – or dip the tuille into the sweet cream and coffee. Here at Spade we scale and measure every shot of espresso to create balance and perfection in every cup of coffee. Come in today and indulge with us – Why not!
