This year’s 23rd annual extraordinary feast was held on September 10 at Krause Berry Farm in Langley. It’s one of my favourite events of the year, this annual FarmFolk CityFolk’s, Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields was my 8th Feast of Fields.
I loved Jamjar’s original hummus, spinach dip and maha mara with falafel and cauliflower; along with the Korean Giesbrecht Quality Meats Pork Taco, House Made kimchee, Sesame Mayo, Daikon, Watermelon cherry punch with brandy from Showcase Restaurant. Both paired well with the Roselle Wheat Ale Dark Lager from Steel & Oak Brewing.
The Cheam View Farm heritage pork bao, Sichuan spiced, pickled cowpeas from The Arc Restaurant was tasty; as was BC Peaches Dressed R18 style from Route 18 Real Food.
It was great to see Salt Spring Kitchen Co and I loved their Onion & Thyme jam, Spicy Tomato jam, fresh Salt Spring Island chevre on a crisp; this paired well with the Iced Turmeric Ginger Tonic from Namasthe Tea Co.
Turtle Valley Bison Shank Salad “Vietnamese Style” with Glorious Organics cucumbers, mint, cilantro, shallots, puffed Abbotsford rice, Quadra Island herring fish sauce was served up by Forage Restaurant; and Cheam View Ranch Berkshire pork belly barbecue, pickled ramp bulb, Hyatt herb garden microgreens, ssamjang sauce was served by the Hyatt Vancouver Hotel. Both of these dishes paired well with Powell Street Brewing Co’s Ode To Citra Pale Ale.
Loved the freshly roasted Corn on the Cob rolled in grass-fed butter by Krause Berry Farms; which was served nearby The Acorn’s dish of Vegetables, mustard and cheese.
Loved Terra Breads Salted Caramel Apple and Sage Double Baked Croissant topped with Fromage Frais; as well as the Pumpkin Nanaimo Bars from Krause Berry Farms.
The Pie Hole was serving a selection of min-pies featuring the Blackberry rhubarb ginger and pecan peach pie; and Whole Foods Markets were serving an Italian soda and Betterwith ice cream floats.
Had a chance to try newly launched Kapow Now!’s specialty cereal and chocolate spread on crackers as well as their No Cheeze crackers.
This was my eighth visit to Feast of Fields, see last year’s Feast here. This wonderful annual event is organized byFarm Folk City Folk and is their annual fundraiser.
I am already looking forward to attending next year’s event.
