Last night, I attended the opening party of the stylish Mak N Ming in Kitsilano.
It’s co-owned by Chefs Makoto Ono and Amanda Cheng with the backing of Julius Dong. The dining room seats 24 although they are licensed for 40.

Guests that included media, chef friends and family were treated to a variety of canapes and desserts offering up a taste of the restaurant menu. Wine and beer flowed by donation supporting Project Chef.
The menu focus is French meets West Coast cuisine with an Asian influence; and the restaurant will be offering set tasting menus and only two different options a 3 course and a 6 course.
I loved the room which was designed by Scott & Scott, wood walls and seating along the sides, tables from Vancouver Island and chairs from Portugal. Branding by Glasfurd Walker which fits perfectly within the simple yet elegant room.
Mak N Ming is located at 1629 Yew Street in Kitsilano. Open Tuesday – Sunday for dinner. Reservations suggested, call them at 604-737-1155. Follow them on Twitter @makNming and Instagram @maknming
