With it’s focus on Mediterranean flavours Owner/Chef Faizal Kassam has created a wonderful menu filled with delicious food in a beautiful dining space. This hidden gem features locally sourced seasonal ingredients worthy of a drive over the bridges from the city.
I have dined a couple of times since opening with a couple of different friends Jason and Jonathan trying an array of dishes, loved the Seared albacore tuna with cippolini onions, fennel, olives, pesto; as well as the Potato Gnocchi in a delicious venison ragu, crispy sage, saffron pecorino, and cocoa nibs.
The crispy pork belly on a bed of slow cooked lentils, smoked cauliflower, cabernet vinegar, watercress has been a popular dish, though I adored the Lamb Shoulder far more with Peppermint tea couscous, sundried tomatoes, olives, saffron, Merguez vinaigrette, green goddess yogurt. The Grilled Skirt Steak was outstanding to share with crispy fingerling potatoes, rosemary, salsa pepperoncino, and spring ramp butter.
Beets with housemade marscapone was both flavourful and fresh; and was perfect to enjoy before the tasty Black Cod fish feature.
Both housemade pastas were divine, including the Farfalle, asparagus, fava beans, pine nuts, pecorino cheese; and the Stracci with delicious motel mushrooms, garlic, thyme, parsley, lemon butter, and granpaddano.
Perfect for sharing to finish a meal is the Dessert platter with their outstanding Chocolate Torte, Pot de Creme, and wine poached pear with a creamy cheese and their housemade biscotti
The wine list includes both local and European vintages, perfectly chosen wines to match the wonderous dishes. The restaurant is an intimate space with a stunning back patio, take a friend or a loved one, you will want to return time and time again just as I do.
