I had an opportunity to try all 3 flavours from the Standard Kombucha line-up. The Lemon Ginger Kombucha made by Standard Kombucha was my favourite followed by the original flavour. It’s refreshing and a well made brew, this local company was founded by Jolan Aubry early this year. After a few years working as a bartender, Jolan decided upon this business idea and the rest is history. Standard Kombucha brews organic, antioxidant rich, probiotic kombucha, handcrafted with 3 different flavours, bottled locally.
Kombucha is a fermented beverage of green tea and organic cane sugar. It contains a colony of bacteria and yeast that are responsible for initiating the fermentation process once combined with sugar. After being fermented, kombucha becomes carbonated and contains vinegar, b-vitamins, enzymes, probiotics and a high concentration of acid (acetic, gluconic and lactic), which are tied with beneficial health effects.
You can find Standard Kombucha at a growing list of cafes and markets around the city including Elysian Cafes, Finch Market, The Uncommon Café, Zend Lounge and more, available in a single serve bottle as well as kegged in select locations. Follow them on twitter @StandardKombuch
