My long-time friend Lisa Green joined me to catchup on life and explore Chef Jeff Miller’s new brunch menu at Argan Bistro.
Heirloom Tomato Benny-less Benny ($15)
Sweet corn polenta, pumpkin seed pesto, organic greens, fresh local tomatoes, gruyere cheese, poached free-range eggs, hollandaise, fingerling potatoes, lemon saffron yogurt. Loved the presentation as well as the sweet corn polenta with the pmpkin seed pesto.
Wild Salmon Trio on Cedar Plankicon ($18)
Baked B.C. sockeye, salmon tar tar, maple-smoked candied salmon, organic quinoa salad, seasonal bitter greens, avocado, crispy skin, salmon caviar, blueberry beurre blanc. My favourite of the trio was the baked B.C, Sockeye in the middle, where Lisa’s favouite was the Salmon Tartar.
Hickory Smoked Bison on Bannock Bread ($18)
Grass-fed bison short ribs, charred peppers, caramelized onions, arugula, herbed cream cheese, hollandaise, cast-iron fried bannock bread (without the eggs as I don’t like eggs). My favourite savoury dish of all the items tasted, this was heavenly and I would order this time and time again.
Meat Lover’s Hash ($16)
Double-smoked Canadian bacon, chorizo, charred corn, roasted peppers, fingerling hash, salsa verde, smoked gouda, sous-vide free-range eggs, hollandaise
Chocolate Buckwheat Pancakes ($15)
Organic cocoa buckwheat pancakes, caramelized banana & dates, maple-candied walnuts, coconut-lime meringue, mint-chocolate curls, banana chip. We both loved these delicious, organic and glutenfree ‘dessert for brunch’ pancakes.
