My friend Vance Licaros joined me to try some of new cocktails off the spring/summer menu at The Keg Steakhouse + Grill in Yaletown last week. We enjoyed a selection of dishes off the menu to go along with the cocktails.
For the first round, I had the Strawberry Basil Lemonade with Beefeater 24 gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, soda and muddled basil; while Vance had the Watermelon Mojito with Havana Club 3 Year Old rum, fresh lemon and lime juice, soda and muddled mint, watermelon and sugar.
We shared a selection of starters including the Fillet Medallions done 3 ways with 3 sauces my favourite sauce was the chimchurri; the Crab Cakes with a fresh lemon squeeze; and the Cheese Toast all perfect for sharing!
For the 2nd round of cocktails, I had the Lime Rickey with Absolute vodka, Limoncello, lime juice and soda; while Vance had the Bourbon Cherry Smash with Woodford Reserve bourbon, Averna Amaro liqueur, cherry brandy and simple syrup, fresh lemon juice and muddled Drunken Cherries.
I then had the delicious Baked Seabass on quinoa and asparagus ; while Vance had the NY Steak with double baked potato and iceburg salad.
For the 3rd round, I had the Paloma with Casamigos Reposado tequila, fresh grapefruit, lemon and lime juice, simple syrup and soda finished with a pinch of sea salt; while Vance had the Basil Julep with Jameson’s Irish Whiskey, fresh lemon and lime juice, simple syrup and muddled basil leaves.
To finish off our meal and end the night on a sweet note, I had the Brownie Fudge Sundae while Vance had the Crème Brulee.
