Vancouver Poutine Challenge Winners 2025

The Vancouver Foodster Poutine Challenge was a success featuring creations from restaurants from around metro Vancouver. Each restaurant featured their poutine creation from February 6 – March 2, 2025.

Description: In honour of all our Irish friends in Kitsilano, Cockney Kings Kits presents our long awaited Spice Bag (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spice_bag) Poutine! Our take on this late night Irish chippy classic features our hand cut chips, chicken goujons (chicken strips/tenders for all of those not in the know), sautéed bell peppers and onions, all tossed in our super secret spice bag spice blend. Topped with cheese curds and curry sauce, a drizzle of garlic mayo, and garnished with green onions. We know we’re a British fish & chip shop, but come get a little Irish with us!

Ingredients: Hand Cut Chips (fried in beef tallow), Chicken Goujons/Strips, Sautéed Onions & Bell Peppers, Spice Blend (salt, five spice, cumin, cinnamon, and more)
Curry Sauce (tomato & onion base), Cheese Curds, Garlic Mayo, Green Onions

Description: We are using Bo Kho ( Beef Stew) to reduce the demi glaze and create sauce by red wine, mozzarella, butter. And we garnish this Poutine with 4oz beef cubes,  laughing cow cheese, culantro, cilantro and basil. We could describe it: Bo Kho demi glaze with 4oz beef stew, laughing cow cheese.

Offered: All the time (closed on Wednesday night’s).

Our media judging panel determined the ultimate winners of the challenge, and this was quite the task as each judge who tasted each creation with a rigorous process based on taste, originality/uniqueness and presentation/appearance.

Our Media judges for this challenge are: Corey Lee, Rick Green and Crissa Koh.

Each media judge will have scored the creation with a maximum of 40 points as follows: Overall Taste 20 points, Originality and Uniqueness 10 points, Presentation and Appearance 10 points). The total number of points a cake creation could earn is 120 points.

Thank you to the chefs and establishments that accepted my invitation and featured their Poutine creations on the menu for the past few weeks during this challenge.
