A Year’s Worth of Dishes at Food by Fanta

It is no secret that I dine at Food by Fanta often and I do so as their team is so creative with the dishes and drinks they create. Creative chef and Founder Parinya Loptson is the creative force behind her team of chefs and bartenders at this top notch restaurant in downtown Langley.

Here are the dishes that I ate and the drinks that I tried over the past year.

Khao Yum Salad – made up of 22 ingredients in this colourful salad;  Khao Yum (Yum means to mix in Thai and yes it IS yum). The textures and flavors in this Thai salad features crunchy veggies, pineapple, apple, lime leaves & Thai chilis for that kick of heat. They top it with their housemade watermelon crunchy rice (khao). Their server pours the delicious tangy tamarind dressing tableside.

Zab Zab Burger is a creative and delicious burger that is influenced by the tastes of Isaan Larb (an aromatic Thai meat salad) that’s served with an array of fresh greens & herbs. They seasoned the beef patty with toasted rice powder to give it that signature Larb taste. The grilled patty with cheese sits on top of their housemade cilantro bun topped with cream cheese, fresh greens, herbs & house pickled green beans. They drizzle it with grainy mustard & top with crispy onion rings for added texture. Served with tasty eggplant fries and a trio of dips. This burger was part of our Summer Burger Festival this past summer.

Sakoo Pops – Thai inspired flavourful tapioca wrapped all natural colour pops filled with chicken, pork or veggie and peanuts.

Curry Puffs – That inspired puff pastry puffs filled with veggies; reminds me of an Indian samosa, garnished with edible flowers. Dipping sauce served on the side.

Apple Tarte
French style Apple tarte, puff pastry with gala apples, served with coconut rum ice cream.

Banoffee Crumble
Layers of banana, strawberry, cream & cookie crumble with a coconut caramel sauce.

Tom Yumgarita Mocktail

Thai Tom Yum soup was reimagined by their creative bartender that we’ve named Tom Yumgarita. They took the essence of one of Thailand’s most popular foods and created this addictive concoction in drink form. They rim the glass with Housemade Tom Yum salt seasoning, layer sweet & spicy preserved tomato jam at the bottom, fresh lime slices and then top it with a refreshing soda that’s blended with fresh lime juice and our own simple syrup infused with lemongrass, galangal and lime leaves. Garnish with lemongrass, lime leaf and a slice of Thai chili. Stir, take a sip ensuring you get a taste of the Tom Yum salt rim and be prepared to be in sensory overload in the best way. This drink was part of our Vancouver Mocktail Challenge.
