Exploring and Eating in Chiang Mai

We enjoyed an outstanding Michelin Thai dinner at The House by Ginger while we were in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The restaurant has been around since 2004 specializing in Thai Rustic Colonial cuisine at this Michelin Guide awarded restaurant. Everything we had was divine and these were the dishes we had:

Flower shaped and Bird shaped dumplings stuffed with minced pork and prawns served with coconut milk dipping sauce.

Khao Soi Gai – a traditional Chiang Mai style noodle curry soup with chicken; along with the Beef Cheek Massaman curry with sweet potatoes and shallots; accompanied by some Stir-fried Vegetables and Riceberry Rice.

We finished off our dinner with their delicious home-made Coconut ice cream.

We visited Wat Prathat Doi Suthep Temple high up above the city of Chiang Mai which was absolutely stunning and not as busy as I expected that evening.

As I was exploring one of the neighbourhoods I stumbled upon this cool cafe, Toffee Roasters where they roast their own coffee and had an Iced Americano.

Another one of my memorable restaurants in the old town of Chiang Mai that I wish I would have discovered on the first day rather than the last. Delicious Thai food at local prices at It’s Good Kitchen started off with their popular and refreshing Mango Smoothie; and their Penang chicken curry with rice ($3.40 Cad), and their Fried tofu with spicy peanut dip!

Another nice spot that we visited was JingJai Market where they operate an outdoor village of shops and restaurants.
