Let Them Eat Cake Afternoon Tea at H Tasting Lounge

Afternoon Tea is an art and should be an extraordinary experience one that you will cherish. Vancouver has some wonderful places for you to indulge in an Afternoon Tea experience. Each of the places is unique in what they offer along with the type of service and selection of sandwiches, pastries and desserts. I am on a journey around the city to find these extraordinary places.

This special Afternoon Tea service is inspired by Victorian refinement and France’s ‘La Belle Époque’ period.

Beautiful “Let Them Eat Cake” Afternoon Tea accompanied by a pot of tea of your choice from a wonderful tea selection. I had the Kingdom of Colchis by local purveyor O5 Tea and this tea originated in Bakhvi, Guria, region of Georgia with notes of orange zest and cinnamon; and Lawrence had the Giddapahar Av2 | second flush Darjeeling.

We started off with the delicious Honey & Lavender White Chocolate Scones with housemade clotted cream, strawberry lavender preserve; this came with a fun Candy Floss surprise.

I then indulged in eating the savoury canapes and my favourites were the Smoked BC Sockeye Salmon blini; and the Poached Devilled Egg.

My favourites from the sweets were the Pistachio & Cassis Torte, the Chocolate Dome and the Brown Butter Almond Cake.

The chefs behind this wonderful afternoon tea service are Chef Steve Rutherford for the savouries and Chef Martha Ebro who has created the delectable desserts.

While there we enjoyed wonderful live music by a pair of musicians playing well recognized tunes.

Let Them Eat Cake Afternoon Tea is available exclusively Saturdays and Sundays, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, for $65 per person. Advance reservations are required and can be made online.
