Around Vancouver with the Acura MDX Elite 2022

I recently spent a week test driving the Acura MDX 2022 car around Vancouver while trying some dishes at some of my favourite restaurants and cafes.

I visited Bombay Kitchen Bar in the South Granville neighbourhood to try some new dishes as well as some favourites for dinner.

I had the tasty Gol Gappe as well as the Malai Kofta – Mixed vegetable and paneer dumplings in light tomato and cream sauce; along with a ginger beer that was the perfect accompaniment.

Next I enjoyed another favourite dish, the Chicken Korma along with the Lacha Paratha – Multi-layered bread garnished with ghe which is perfect to mop up the curry from the bowl.

Lastly I had the Dal Bombay – Black lentils cooked overnight, finished with tomato and aromatic spice; and then tried their Indo-Chinese Chili Momos Vegetable – steamed dumplings stuffed with mixed vegetables!

The next day I visited one of my favourite cafes in East Van, Timbertrain Coffee Depot for a Cortado to go.

MDX offers several new technologies including Precision Cockpit all-digital instrument display, Amazon Alexa Built-In, and Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

The next night my friend Jason joined me to experience a local Filipino restaurant in New Westminster, as he grew up in the Phillippines he was great company to learn about the various dishes that we tried.

Take yourself on a culinary journey to the Philippines in downtown New Westminster. I had the pleasure to taste my way through many dishes on the menu at this restaurant.

1st dish:

The Sizzling beef stew with tomato sauce, served on a hot plate with red and green peppers and other vegetables; this was one of my favourite dishes.

2nd dish:

Eggplant Omelette, such a unique dish and again another favourite, the eggplant was so tender.

3rd dish:

Squash and string beans with coconut sauce, topped with shrimp, a very tasty dish,

4th dish:

Crispy milk fish, this is a type of fish from the Philippines that I hadn’t tasted before and this was a dish that I loved, it was deboned before frying. Normally it is covered with salted egg, I had that on the side.

5th dish:

Lumpia, a traditional Filipino dish filled with pork.

Plato Filipino is located at 892 Carnarvon St #100 in downtown New Westminster.

Another benefit featured in the Acura MDX is the latest generation of Acura’s intuitive and driver-focused True Touchpad Interface™ (TTI), featuring Acura’s largest-ever center display. At an ultra-wide 12.3-inches, the full-HD display works seamlessly with the Acura-exclusive touchpad with “absolute positioning” and a new, more powerful CPU for improved performance. The TTI in MDX features intuitive controls, including physical Power, Volume and Seek controls positioned within easy reach to the immediate right of the touchpad, along with more accurate swipe zones and handwriting recognition, and other performance enhancements.

The next day I stopped by one of my favourite South Indian restaurants, Davie Dosa Company on Davie Street in the Westend, as I was craving their Dosas; these large lentil filled pancakes are always light and delicious. I had the Spinach Paneer Dosa, I also had their popular Lamb Biryani and for dessert I had the Pistachio and Mango Kulfi.

The next day I was heading to Edgemont Village in North Vancouver and decided to stop in to Kokomo for a light healthy lunch. They always offer great tasting bowls and smoothies and this visit didn’t disappoint. I had the Green Giant Smoothie and the Coastal Macro Bowl which is pretty much my go to on each visit here.

I visited Via Tevere Pizzeria on a Sunday night with friends; the restaurant is celebrating 10 years this year so this gave us a great chance for a revisit.

One favourite that I often start with is the Polpette della Nonna which was delicious as always, meatballs in tomato sauce; we also shared the Insalata mista – Mixed greens, veggies, house vinaigrette and crispy prosciutto.

The pizzas here are some of the best around, started off with the outstanding Sweet Salvatore Pizza which was a sweet and spicy creation! Nduja romesco base (nduja, roasted red pepper, garlic, walnuts) topped with fresh mozzarella, Ricotta, Pancetta, Roasted walnuts, Chillies, Honey, and Parsley. Next up were a couple long time favourites; the Tricolore pizza in the colours of the Italian flag with fior di latte, ricotta, san marzano tomato, basil, walnut pesto, grana padano; lastly the Salsiccia e Rapini white pizza – one of my all time favourites with fior di latte, italian sausage, broccoli rabe.

For dessert we had the delicious Graffe Con Nutella; handmade Neapolitan fritters made to order, dusted with sugar and cinnamon, and drizzled with nutella; and the Tiramisu – an Italian classic with layers of coffee drenched lady fingers with mascarpone cream.

I really enjoyed the Acura MDX was a great car to drive in and around Vancouver to try some great eateries.
