First Taste of La Cerveceria Astilleros

La Cerveceria Astilleros is Spanish for The Shipyards Brewery, has been founded by Andrew Doyle, his head brewer is Carlo Baroccio who is from Mexico, and the brewery along with their tasting room is located in the Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood across from The Shipyards.

The tasting room is covid friendly, bright and features beautiful tile work imported from Mexico. For the bathrooms they have beautiful toilets also imported from Mexico.

The beer program features a stellar lineup of house-brewed beers available on tap or in the can. Their flagship beer is the El Valle Salado Salted Lime Lager (4.6% abv), some of their other beers, includes the Agua de Jamaica Papaya Hibiscus Gose (3.9% abv), Acan Chufa Horchata Porter (5.5% abv), and Neuvo Mexicanus Session Ale (4.5% abv).

The food program is being run by Chef TJ Conwi and Kam Sun who are creating some of the recipes for the tacos and tostadas. The menu is focused on Mexican tacos, tostadas as well as chips & guacamole, and churros.

I have tried several dishes here including the Beef Barbacoa taco, Chicken Tinga taco, Raja Crema (coming off the menu –2nd in the box of 3), Chipotle jackfruit taco, Tuna Tostada, Al Pastor taco

La Cerveceria Astilleros is located at 226 Esplanade East in North Vancouver. Follow them on Instagram @lacerveceriaastilleros
