It’s been a few years since my last Dim Sum visit, since the restaurant was about to celebrate 10 years in business, this was a terrific time to revisit and have a few friends (Louisa, Lawrence and David) join to share the dishes. We tried a lot of different dishes and that was only a taste from the vast selection on offer.
Steamed Scallops with Prawn Dumplings, so fresh and unique.
Steamed Rice Flour Rolls wrap with Chinese Donut, one of my favourites, it’s almost two dishes in one having the chinese donut on the inside of the rice flour wrap.
Steamed Dumplings with shrimp paste
Steamed Shiu-Mai Dumplings, a table favourite.
Pea Tips with Garlic Sauce, loved the greens and the freshness of flavour.
Steamed Prawn Dumplings, simple and a true restaurant favourite.
Baked BBQ Pork Pastry with XO sauce
Bean Curd Wraps & Chilled Jelly Fish
Pan Fried Prawns in Meggie soy sauce
Deep-Fried Yam Balls topped with syrup, a table favourite, and quite difficult to make, loved the chewiness
Goji Berry and Lychee Gelatin, Mango Pudding, and Green Tea Coconut Milk Gelatin on this beautiful sweet party combo platter
Dim Sum is offered daily from 9am-3pm, and reservations are strongly suggested especially on weekends. Western Lake Restaurant is located at 4989 Victoria Drive in Vancouver. You can follow them on Twitter @WesternLake and on Instagram @WesternLakeRestaurant
