One of my favourite food events of the year, FarmFolk CityFolk’s, Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields takes place on Sunday afternoon 1pm – 5pm on September 8th , this year at Krause Berry Farm.
Krause Berry Farms started as a small 1-acre farm in 1947 and today has expanded to over 200 acres growing some of the Fraser Valley’s best berries and vegetables. Krause also produces a delectable selection of farm fresh baked goods including their famous berry pies, and this year they’re celebrating the opening of their own on-farm estate winery.
This gourmet, wandering harvest festival is the annual fundraiser, generously supported this year by Gold Plate Sponsor, Whole Foods Market. On the day of the event, guests arrive to the farm field, and with a wine glass and linen napkin in hand are able to taste the best of BC from chefs, vintners, brewers, distillers, farmers, fishers, ranchers and food artisans from across the province. Feast of Fields highlights the connections between farmer and chef and showcases the delicious, agricultural bounty of the region. Feast of Fields is a gastronomic journey towards a sustainable, local food system.
Check out my recap from Feast of Fields that I attended last year, hungry yet?
Event tickets are $95 and for an additional $15, the Feast Bus will whisk you to the farm and back. New in 2013, attendees must be at least 19 years of age. Tickets are available online at www.farmfolkcityfolk.ca or at any Whole Foods Market location in Vancouver.
