Benefit for Terra Madre Fund
To celebrate all that’s local, Aphrodite’s Café and Pie Shop will showcase food fresh from the farm. From September 23 to October 6, Aphrodite’s Fresh Sheet will feature a three-course menu showcasing BC-grown ingredients. Cost for the meal is $35, with an additional $10 for a tasting of local wines.
Proceeds from the evening of September 28 will benefit Slow Food Vancouver’s Terra Madre Fund. Diners will meet local farmers who have grown the beautiful food featured on the menu. The September 28 sitting will include tiny amuse bouches between courses, and botanically infused cocktails created by Aphrodite’s owner Peggy Vogler, General Manager Kyle McEachern , and Chef Rachel Lovick will complement the meal.
The Terra Madre Fund enables selected BC farmers and producers to travel to Slow Food International’s Terra Madre meeting where delegates from all over the world exchange ideas about food production, security and sustainability.
Supplying locally grown ingredients are Rootdown Organic Farm, Glen Valley Farm, the Flour Peddler, Southlands Farm and the UBC Farm, all of which sent representatives to Terra Madre 2010. We are also excited to feature products form Slow Food suppliers Skipper Otto’s Community Fishery, Farm House Natural Cheeses, Gelderman Farms and Six Masters Farm. Beverages will be provided by SIP Natural Craft Sodas, Lotusland Vineyard, Forbidden Fruit Winery and Schramm Vodka.
