Vancouver Taco Challenge

Welcome to the 13th Annual Vancouver Taco Challenge. Restaurants and food trucks from all over the city were invited to enter their taco creations into this challenge, most have created a special taco creation just for this challenge. Each restaurant will be featuring their tacos on their menu from June 4-28, 2026.

How Does this all Work? For the public challenge, you are invited to go out and order any or all of the Taco creations in this challenge, then you decide who you think has the best creation for the People’s Choice award winners. 

Share your experiences: Share your photos on Instagram and TikTok throughout the challenge, our instagram and TikTok address is @vanfoodster and the hashtag is #TacoChallengeYVR please include this hashtag in all your social media sharing during the challenge.

Voting criteria –  some things to help you judge your favourite taco creations – keep these things in mind: originality, creativity, uniqueness, traditional, non-traditional, price, value and most importantly taste.

How to VOTE :

  1. Look for our Taco challenge posters at each of the participating restaurants.
  2. Scan the QR code and Vote for your favourites from June 4-28, 2026.

Get some friends together and visit 2 places or more to taste the different Taco creations or go solo or with a friend– just remember to VOTE for your favourites

Wagyu Khau Kling Taco

Description:Southern Thai style dry curry stir fry with Wagyu. Topped with grated green & purple cabbages, spinach, Thai Naam Jim aioli, Gruyère and mozzarella, Avocado sauce, shredded green beans/ carrots/dill pickles; in a crispy Charcoal crepe (Khahnom Buang in Thai) and garnish with sweet peppers and edible flowers. 

Ingredients:Wagyu, Khau Kling curry paste, kaffir lime leaves, coconut milk, Fish sauce, sugar, shallots, turmeric, lemongrass, green & purple cabbage, spinach, pickled carrots&cucumber & greenbeans , Naam Jim Aioli, avocado sauce, and house made charcoal taco shells.
