Took a tour of the gourmet market at 340 Baseline Rd in Sherwood Park recently with Chef Max Straczek recently. Max is the head chef of Pyro which is one of two Italian inspired restaurants that are located adjacent to this gourmet experiential food market.

The huge market features hand-made pasta, wood-fired pizza, freshly roasted coffee, scratch-made baked goods, aged prime beef, world-class cheese, and a curated selection of grocery and wellness products. This is their flagship location which also features two restaurants, in addition to Pyro there is also Oro.

PYRO’s dining room surrounds Canada’s largest indoor, custom-built wood-fired grill which they use for all of their steaks. I also ate some tasty dishes at Pyro having the Wood-Roasted Cauliflower on a bed of warm hummus with Chimichurri, along with a Blackened Chicken skewer and a taster 2oz North Country Beef Sirloin Cap steak.

Inside the market they also feature a variety of cooking classes, wine seminars, educational events and so much more . Also on site is their Artisan liquor store that sells international wines, beer and spirits.
