Around Metro Vancouver for Food and Theatre in the Honda HR-V

I recently spent a week test driving the Honda HR-V 2023 car around Vancouver while visiting some new restaurants and taking in some theatre in and around Vancouver.

I headed out to Richmond to visit Ginger Indian Cuisine, a spot I had heard of and never been. They specialize in North Indian cuisine and are located at 9100 Blundell Rd #490 in Richmond. In addition to the tasty fare you have got to check out their selfie mirror and the gallery hallway of beautiful pics.

We started off with a Tikka platter (the mixed platter is not on the menu, but you can ask for it) with their delicious Tikka fish and the Tikka chicken and the presentation of this dish was exceptional.

Keema Naan is one of the chef specialties which was very tasty, the Naan bread is stuffed with ground lamb meat & spices. Comes with butter sauce, raita & pickles.

Methi Chicken is a curry made of fenugreek leaves and garlic. Jeera Aloo is a potato dish that is steamed first then pan fried with tomatoes, rich in cumin seeds.

Palak Chana is a secret menu item that you can ask for, that has fresh spinach puree cooked with chopped garlic & spices and chickpeas. We also had some of their Garlic and plain Naan.

The next day I was out in Kitsilano and dropped by Just Another Coffee (3040 W. Broadway) for one of their delicious Portuguese Tarts. The cafe is one of my favourite and I frequent it often for coffee and sweets.

From there I headed to The York Theatre on Commercial Drive for opening night of Dirty Laundry and it was such a fun and wild show that had us clapping and cheering throughout. Briefs Factory International (Australia) was in Vancouver for a limited run, presented by Zee Zee Theatre and The Cultch. This show celebrated Pride month in a big way, and they do talk about how far we have all come from the yesterdays to now and how the borders have opened.

The HR-V car has a roomy front area and the center console features a open storage area underneath which was perfect to put my reading glass case.

The next day I visited one of my favourite spots in Edgemont Village for lunch; here at Krave Kulture Yogurt (3151 Edgemont Blvd, North Van) I had one of the new Avocado Bagel open face sandwiches. I also had an Espresso-Chocolate twist and one of my favourite flavour combinations, made with their house-made yogurt, espresso shots and chocolate for a divine frozen treat.

Later in the day I headed to the Riley Park neighbourhood to The Main on Main (4210 Main Street) for dinner, I hadn’t been there in over 8 years; it’s been going strong for many years where it serves up tasty Greek comfort food dishes, pizzas, burgers and more in the Riley Park neighbourhood.

Started off with a Blueberry lavender gin fizz mocktail. I recalled that their Greek food was particularly good, and knowing that the chefs have been there for over 15 years, I knew that I was in for a treat.

I had the Spanakopita with spinach, feta, green onions, dill in filo pastry.

The Souvlaki platter with chicken skewers, served with herbed rice, lemon potatoes, greek salad, pita & tzatziki was very good.

They are also known for their pizzas, I had the Mediterranean Pizza with Chorizo sausage, spinach, feta & garlic. This is a great spot to visit any day or night to enjoy some Greek food or other dishes and drinks.

As the weather was beautiful, I drove to the River District in SE Vancouver the following day to visit the Boketo Tea Bar (3471 W Sawmill Cres,) for one of their yummy Matcha and Milk tea twists. They offer a selection of cold beverages along with ice cream treats and I can’t wait to return another day to try more.

The front of the car features a clear front styling that catches peoples eye.

In the evening it was theatre time and the opening of the Annual Bard on the Beach Shakespeare production, one of the shows for this summer is “As You Like it” which was wonderful.

The car has good driveability, a smooth ride, and comfortable seating. A few things that I liked in this model was the great fuel economy, econo mode, wireless phone charger, and multiple USB charging outlets.

On Sunday afternoon I visited Bingo Taco (4242 Main Street) for lunch over in the Riley Park neighbourhood for some delicious tacos. I loved the Beef Birria with crispy cheesy taco with consume along with the Veggie Beans & cheese. The Mexican eatery also features cocktails, burgers, shareables and some other dishes.

I really enjoyed the Honda HR-V 2023 was a great car to drive and around Vancouver.
