Field Trip down the I-5 with the Honda Civic Sedan Sport

“FieldTrips” is either a day trip or a few days where I visit food areas of interest which may include farm visits, producers, wineries, restaurants and/or other places that people can visit. This is about offering Vancouver Foodster readers a chance to get out of town and take a “Field Trip” for the day or a few days to explore, learn, taste and experience.

Field Trip down the I-5 with the Honda Civic Sedan Sport Touring

We recently went on a road trip down the I-5 between Bellingham and Seattle in the Honda Civic. It’s been well over 2 years since I had gone across the border and test driving the Honda Civic was a great way to do it to save on gas.

Our first stop was to Narrative Coffee (1400 W Holly St Ste. 102,) in Bellingham, and this was a great café featuring Everett based roaster, Velton’s coffee. Here I had a Cortado along with one of their tasty Orange morning buns.

We then got back on the highway and drove to Seattle to the Ballard neighbourhood and had lunch at Sunny Hill restaurant (3127 NW 85th St), they were actually serving weekend brunch. We sat on the outside back patio and I had the Smashed Chickpea Toast with salad while Lawrence had the Breakfast Sandwich.

Afterwards we drove to the main area of Ballard to visit one of my favourite ice cream shops, Salt & Straw where I had the Cold brew coffee cashew praline and the Cinnamon snickerdoodle ice cream in a cup.

Next, we drove to the Fremont neighbourhood to visit the Book Larder (4252 Fremont Ave N,), an independent book store that specializes in cookbooks. After checking out the latest books we went across the street to Café Vita (4301 Fremont Ave N,) for a Cold Brew coffee as it was a sweltering day.

For dinner we visited Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen (4775, 18530 33rd Ave W ste b) Lynwood for some delicious Thai eats. Here we shared the Isarn Lettuce Wraps with crisp lettuce, wide rice noodles, marinated minced chicken and mushrooms served with a spicy lime dressing. I then had the Kao Mun Gai (Ginger Chicken Rice) a dish with steamed chicken served on top of jasmine rice cooked with garlic, pandan leaves and chicken stock. Served with light soup and fermented soybean ginger-garlic sauce.

After dinner we drove nearby to visit Crumbl Cookies (18411 Alderwood Mall Pkwy Suite D,) and this was quite the experience. It’s part of a national chain and they make cookies and loads of them, they only feature about 6 varieties at a time. I had the Honey bun cookie while Lawrence had the Brownie cookie.

One fantastic feature in this 2022 model is that you can adjust the display to convert it from kilometers to miles so that you follow the speed in the USA vs Canada.

The next day we visited the Everett Farmers Market which was located in downtown Everett glancing at the various vendors and their wares.

Standard addition is the new 7-inch colour touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ integration; also available is a new 9-inch HD colour touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ integration.

The sedan also features all-new simple, clean exterior and interior styling, with a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.5-litre turbo engine; enhanced architecture and stronger body, updated suspension and steering tuning for improved handling and ride. The touring model also boasts a Civic-first Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers. One other great feature was the updated single camera Honda Sensing® system with new Traffic Jam Assist, Low Speed Braking Control (Touring).

Returning North on the I-5, we stopped in Bellingham for something to eat. I visited Señor Lopez Mexican Restaurant (1200 Cornwall Ave0 in the downtown area that had opened a year ago. I had the delicious Pollo en Mole a dish with tender strips of chicken breast cooked in a semi-sweet spicy sauce that was served with rice and beans. They have an extensive menu here and I look forward to returning to try some more dishes.

The Honda Civic Sedan Sport Touring was enjoyable to drive South into Washington state to try some great eateries.
